Spark for Life Psychology is a neuroaffirming practice committed to helping children, teens, adults, and families understand their unique neurotypes and create lives where they can truly thrive. We provide a warm, respectful space for exploring neurodiversity and offer comprehensive assessments for Autism, ADHD, FASD, learning profiles, and intellectual disability. Our therapy supports emotional wellbeing, regulation, identity, and relationships, using evidence-based approaches such as ACT, CBT, mindfulness, Theraplay, DBT-informed strategies, and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions.
At Spark for Life, we work in partnership with families to build understanding, connection, and confidence. In addition to clinical work, we are passionate about developing the next generation of psychologists. We provide supervision for provisional psychologists, registrars in the Educational & Developmental pathways, and fully registered psychologists, with a strong focus on neuroaffirming, reflective, and evidence-informed practice.
Spark for Life Psychology is a neuroaffirming psychology practice based in Canberra, dedicated to supporting children, teens, adults, and families to better understand themselves and create meaningful, connected lives. We specialise in working with neurodivergent individuals, with a strong commitment to respect, inclusion, and the celebration of different ways of thinking, feeling, and being in the world.
We believe that every person has the capacity to thrive when they are seen, understood, and supported in a way that aligns with their unique neurotype. Our goal is to help our clients and their families move from confusion or struggle to clarity, connection, and confidence.
Founded by Carla Crossman
A registered Educational & Developmental Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with over 15 years of experience in psychological assessment, therapy, parent support, and supervision. I founded Spark for Life Psychology to create the kind of space I wish existed when I began working with neurodivergent young people: a warm, affirming, and evidence informed environment where differences are understood, and strengths are celebrated.
Our clinic is grounded in the latest research on neurodevelopment, attachment, trauma, and emotional wellbeing. We work from a neurodiversity affirming lens and tailor every assessment or therapy session to the individual needs of the person and family in front of us.
Our Services
At Spark for Life Psychology, we provide a comprehensive range of services to support neurodivergent individuals and their families. These include:

DBT-informed skills
We also understand that standard approaches often need to be adapted to be truly effective and respectful for neurodivergent individuals, and we work closely with clients to find what feels safe and useful for them.
Parent Support & Consultation
We work closely with parents and carers to help them understand their child’s neurotype, build stronger relationships, and parent in a way that works for their family. This can include:
Support following a new diagnosis
Help responding to big feelings or behaviours
School advocacy strategies
Navigating co-regulation and emotional safety
Building joy, connection, and shared understanding
We often incorporate psychoeducation and coaching tailored to each family’s unique needs and goals.
Supervision & Professional Support
We are passionate about growing the capacity of the profession through high-quality, relational supervision. We offer:
Supervision for provisional psychologists (5+1 and Masters pathways)
Board-approved supervision for Educational & Developmental and Clinical registrars
Supervision for early-career or experienced psychologists wanting neurodiversity-affirming, reflective support
Our supervision supports development of ethical, inclusive, and well-rounded practice, with a strong focus on working with neurodivergent children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings.
Our Philosophy
At Spark for Life, we believe that the goal is not to "fix" people but to understand them deeply, compassionately, and holistically. We don’t ask how someone can “fit in” better, we ask how their environment, supports, and relationships can evolve so they feel safe to be their full self.
We help individuals and families rediscover their spark.
