week 3: Understanding and meeting sensory needs
week 4: Understanding and meeting communication needs
week 5: Minding Autistic Minds- a look at mental health, Autistic wellbeing and self-care
By the end of this 5-week course, participants will be able to:
- ✅ Describe Autism through a neuro-affirming lens, dispelling common myths and misconceptions
- ✅ Recognise the diversity of Autistic experiences, including sensory, emotional, and social realities
- ✅ Identify and support Autistic sensory needs using practical tools and reflective exercises
- ✅ Understand Autistic communication styles and how to support them without neuroconformity
- ✅ Use inclusive tools like the Social Audit and Sensory Audit to create supportive environments at home, in schools, or in services
- ✅ Recognise how trauma and stress impact Autistic wellbeing, and apply affirming approaches to support mental health
- ✅ Reflect on their own assumptions and practices, gaining confidence to support Autistic people more effectively and respectfully
