Description

In this webinar, autistic counsellor and trainer Eoin Stephens will explore the challenges faced by Late-Discovery Neurodivergent Adults, and
offer some pathways and guidance through the self-compassion maze.

Tues 10th December 7-9pm.

Recording included if you can’t join us live.

The importance of self-compassion to mental wellness is a core element of acceptance-style
therapies such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and
Mindfulness-based therapies in general. Self-compassion is seen as a major antidote to toxic
shame, and is therefore one of the central benefits we hope will result from the “unmasking”
process. Of course, this can be difficult to achieve in practice, especially without some support
and guidance. One obstacle can be that a late-discovery neurodivergent adult may find it hard to
even be aware of their lack of compassion towards themselves – it is invisible to them because it
is so long-established.
