Description

In recent years we’ve greatly nuanced our understanding of what ‘Autistic’ and ‘Neurodivergent’ mean. We’ve largely unravelled the tangled webs of ‘co-occurring conditions,’ and are building a better appreciation of the many ways apparently separate conditions interact with each other.

In this session we will explore the prevalence of EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), hypermobility and related conditions among Neurodivergent people, considering how they affect our strength, mobility and coordination, our brain function, sensory, autonomic and other bodily systems, and how these impact communication, emotions and mental wellbeing.

Along the way we’ll start to appreciate how actual medical or physiotherapy needs have been brushed under the “it’s just their autism” or “that’s their ADHD” rug, leaving Neurodivergent people to live unnecessarily miserable lives. We will look at how to start identifying and avoiding assumptions that get in the way of meeting ‘Neurobendy’ needs.

This webinar will particularly focus on Neurodivergent:
anxiety
digestion
communication
emotional regulation
chronic pain
brain fog
dysautonomia
balance and coordination
mental health
